Dixie Confexions is Blairsville’s Bakery on the Town Square. Owned and operated by culinary team Jody and Ricky Atkins, Dixie brings big town tastes to small town Georgia through its vast array of cupcakes, custom cakes, and other pastries. Dixie also caters birthdays, weddings, corporate events, and other special occasions.
Jody and Ricky launched the Dixie Confexions in 2016 after a 20-year career in the hospitality industry, planning national conferences, trade shows, and special events. Moving to small town Georgia and opening a cake shop had been a life-long dream for the pair. “We longed for a more simple life after working in corporate America for so many years,” Jody said. “We were at a mid-life fork in the road when we decided to move to Blairsville and fulfill our dream.”
Jody and Ricky always loved baking. Jody remembers watching grandmother skillfully roll the dough for their family-famous pumpkin pies. “I loved eating the toasted marshmallows off of the pies,” she recalls. “Today, I use the same technique and the very same rolling pin, which by my estimate is about 100 years old.”
“I am enjoying re-creating family traditions through my recipes,” said Dixie Co-owner Ricky Atkins. “My apple pie and banana pudding cupcakes are among my favorites. There is no better job than making people smile with something I’ve created.”
